WHITELEY LOOKING TO CHANGE HIS LUCK FOUR-WIDE.

The J&A Service Cadillac Goes After Second National Event Win.

CONCORD, NC. – After back to back first round losses, E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series racer Steven Whiteley is looking to turn his luck around this weekend at the Ninth annual NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway.

“I’m excited for the 4Wide,” Whiteley said. “Mostly because it’s in Charlotte, which is one of my favorite tracks. I missed the (Charlotte) fall race last year because my wife (Delaina) and I had our little girl (Bayslei Grace). So it’s nice to be back.”

Whiteley and his J&A Service Cadillac prove consistent when it comes to qualifying. The team has qualified at the past 38 of 43 events they have attended and are not looking to break their record any time soon.

“We qualified 13th at the four-wide last year,” recalled the 25-year-old Colorado native. “To have a car and team that has such a high percentage of qualifying in such a competitive class makes a big statement, but we need to improve where it counts the most, during eliminations.”

“The struggle is real,” Whiteley continued. We just have to keep pushing and fighting. Take it one round at a time and don’t screw up.”

With a semi-final appearance at last year’s four-wide event, the J&A Service team looks to implement a familiar strategy.

“The four-wide messes with a lot of racers. I just need to stay focused and do my thing as a driver. It takes a lot more concentration when four cars are all staging at the same time because it is so different from what we do at all of the other races.”

Steven Whiteley will race alongside his father and 2018 Spring Nationals Pro Mod Champion Jim Whiteley in the highly competitive Pro Mod class this weekend. Qualifying of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series begins Friday April 27 at 3:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., and Saturday at 3:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Round 1 of eliminations begins at 12:55 p.m. Sunday. All times listed are in Eastern Standard Time and are subject to change.
